Insurance Industry News from ProgramBusiness.com

Get with the "In" CrowdAtlanta, Georgia-based Risk Management Continuum (RMC) was formed in April 2002, and since that time, the firm has specialized in insuring and providing risk management consulting in the full senior care continuum sector, which includes assisted living, housing (both subsidized and market rate), nursing homes, home health agencies, companion care (for example, Meals on Wheels), and continuing care retirement communities (CCRC). RMC has been a member of programbusiness.com for three years, and in the last year, has begun to take advantage of Progambusiness.coms Trading Floor. The firm recently wrote an apartment hi-rise complex for seniors. “We needed to find a market for Builders Risk and Property coverage, including wind damage, for a $65 million account in New Orleans,” says Gwen Zander, Certified Aging Service Professional, of RMCs sales and marketing department. “We went to USG because we knew of the company and its markets due to prior business we had already conducted via Programbusiness.com and its Trading Floor. We were able to write two separate policies with USG on this account.” Most recently, Gwen wanted to find coverage for a therapy agency and called one of the reps at Programbusiness.com. “It was a Friday afternoon at 3pm (EST) and I needed to write the account by Tuesday,” says Gwen. “I ended up speaking with Jeff Neilson [president of programbusiness.com], who got in touch with Insurex and found us a home. Progambusiness was a lifesaver in this case,” continues Gwen. The benefits of Programbusiness.com and the Trading Floor are clear to Gwen and RMC. “You have access to markets you normally would not have, especially as a smaller agency, where you dont meet the premium volume requirements that companies require. Additionally, when you dont specialize in a specific industry, you can use Programbusiness.com to provide you with direction in finding the right markets for these risks.” Programbusiness.com is also the fastest means to finding markets. “The trade journals list the markets, but you have to find the time to go through them all to see what is available. With the Trading Floor, you go on-line and you see what is available immediately. Its so easy and quick,” says Gwen. Located in Georgia, RMC also has clients in Louisiana and Alabama and a few accounts and prospects in Ohio, New York and other states. Additionally, RMC provides consulting services in senior care and speaking at insurance and risk management conventions throughout the country. RMCs affiliated company, Hodges and Associates, offers employee benefits and manages a nationwide surety and insurance program for auctioneers through affiliate BondsPlus. Gwen has been in the insurance business since the early 1980s, specializing in the senior continuum and working for brokerages such as Johnson and Higgins, Fred S. James and HRH, until joining RMC.
